My journey into the world of massage began in 2017 offering massage on a yoga retreat, providing relaxing Swedish massage to the guests, the positive feedback I received inspired me to deepen my knowledge and skills. I completed a comprehensive course at the renowned School of Bodywork in Exeter, where I learned to move beyond routine and discover my own unique “dance” with massage.
I soon realised that so many people are struggling with pain & I wanted to be able to help them more effectively. At this time I was suffering with pain myself, irregular patterns of severe low abdominal pain, frequent visits to the doctors and ending up in A&E in debilitating pain left me confused and to be honest quite scared, as they were running their usual checks and none of my levels were off, so I was being told there wasn't anything wrong with me!
I continued to study and trained in Clinical and Sports Massage at the internationally recognized JING Massage School in Brighton, this course taught me how to help people with chronic pain or injury, giving me an depth knowledge on anatomy and how to treat pain conditions. This experience elevated my practice, equipping me with advanced techniques that have allowed me to provide relief for so many people who were in pain.
My training has taken me beyond the UK, including valuable experiences in Thailand, and I'm hoping to continue my education in India. Each step of my journey has deepened my passion for massage therapy and my commitment to helping others find relief and wellness.
With regards to my abdominal pain, I finally got looked into after an 8 day spell of severe debilitating pain (Following a relationship breakup) I broke down in A&E when I was again told they couldn't investigate me further due to my levels all being ok, How could I be in so much pain but have nothing wrong?! When the nurse saw my distress she agreed to take a sample. The result showed overly high inflammation in the body, and to give you an idea of how high, the normal test result should of been around 50. A high result, indicating significant inflammation would be 120. Mine was 790!
I was referred to a gastroenterologist, then a gynaecologist and had various tests and procedures done including colonoscopy, endoscopy and minor key hole surgery. Aside from being diagnosed with IBS, nothing wrong or abnormal was found.
What I soon realised was that stress was the cause!
I see it in so many clients and now teach people the link between emotion and pain, which highlights even more how important self care is
And that's why massage is great, it benefits you both physically and mentally
